Project Description
The Boundaries Are Eminently Porous continues the line of inquiry I began in 2017 with IO sono memoria, a work focused on memory function and memory loss, combining art with neuroscience. This new chapter investigates the relationship between neuroplasticity and gender, an exploration that began approximately three years ago following a profound personal transformation. After a lifetime of heterosexuality, I experienced a shift in my sexual orientation, accompanied by a deepening sense of self-awareness. This change prompted an intense period of research: I began delving into scientific documents and exploring how the brain—far from being fixed—adapts and evolves throughout our lives.
The Boundaries Are Eminently Porous is a research-based art project and the winner of Strategia Fotografia 2024, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
